Corinne “Corky” Barho knows that the best results are often achieved the further you think outside the box. In fact, you might say her creative perspective is just as distinctive as her memorable nickname. One of Corky’s biggest passions is photography. Whether she’s taking scrapbook pictures of her family or scenic images from her travels throughout Texas, Colorado and other roads less traveled, she is always framing new shots in her mind’s eye and looking for that perfect angle.
A Unique Journey
Corky attributes her creative outlook to her upbringing. Her father was in the U.S. Air Force and he met her mother
while stationed in France. (In case you’re wondering, Corky is fluent in French.) Her family moved around a lot before ultimately settling in the Austin area, where she has proudly called home ever since. Throughout it all, Corky learned to embrace every new opportunity, learn from each experience and make new friends throughout the journey. She’s always been a real people person, and of course, nothing is more important to her than her own family, which includes husband Jim, son Ty, daughter-in-law Rebecca, and three wonderful grandchildren.
With such creativity and love of being around people, it might come as a surprise to learn that Corky’s professional career started in the field of accounting. She earned her degree in business administration and attended the University of Texas. She worked as a bookkeeper for several successful organizations including the Central Texas Library System, a leading computer software company and a large area church. Corky was great at accounting, but longed for a career that would allow her to be more creative, interact more directly with people and make use of her personal knowledge of real estate as an investor and from a building perspective. This led her to earn her real estate license and she hasn’t looked back.
