The City of Georgetown, a bedroom community just north of Austin, is about as good as it gets. With a population of about 50,000, it has the feel of a larger town while retaining the charm of a smaller one. Southwestern University has called Georgetown home since 1840 and was the first institution of higher learning in the state of Texas. The 1300 students at Southwestern, along with its proximity to Austin, make Georgetown a progressive and diverse place to live. On any summer weekend, one can stroll through the historic square while listening to live music or shopping the local produce at the Farmer’s market or simply sitting at the sidewalk café watching the passers by while enjoying an iced latte. It’s a way of life abandoned in the large Metropolitan City but still often longed for. If sidewalk cafes aren’t your “cup of latte” then hop across the highway to Wolf Ranch Shopping Center. There you’ll find Target, Kohls, Best Buy (to name a few) along with many restaurants. No need to drive into the big city to find that special item….Georgetown has it all.
Georgetown Lakes
Lake Georgetown and the San Gabriel River beckon you to take the plunge on those blistery summer days. The “Blue Hole” lagoon on the South Fork of the San Gabriel is a stone’s throw from the courthouse square and a summer favorite spot! Throw a blanket on the shore and take a nap on a lazy summer’s afternoon. Better still, let me show you around town and some of the lovely neighborhoods and help you to find that perfect house so that you, too, can call Georgetown home!
